What is Akka about?

Akka is a gangster saga centred on women, set in the 1980s in Pernuru, a fictional South Indian kingdom shaped by generations of women who have built, governed and protected it. Keerthy Suresh plays Bhavani and Radhika Apte plays Rudra, two forces in a world of traditions, rivalries and shifting power dynamics. The cast also includes Tanvi Azmi.

The series is produced by YRF Entertainment and marks the directorial debut of writer-director Dharmaraj Shetty. It is Keerthy Suresh's first series with Netflix.

Netflix first unveiled Akka on February 3, 2025 as part of its Next on Netflix India slate, but the show went quiet for over a year. The new teaser finally introduces Pernuru and its rival queens, and confirms the October 30 premiere after the long delay.
